Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"

Today was a huge day for Lady Gaga's Little Monsters and it will surely go down in their history books as an epic moment in their idol's career.

February 11th, 2011 will be remembered as the day the pop icon released the much anticipated first single to her third studio album, both titled "Born This Way".

With one listen the loud dance beats will grab the attention of devoted fans and first time listeners. However, when the song progress and the lyrics of equality and love starting filling the speakers, one will begin to notice that this is no ordinary Gaga track, which is the best thing about it.

In today's music industry reinvention is key and Gaga has proved that with every album so far. The song is beautifully written and is sung with great vocals that we knew the singer was capable of. Her music has been maturing ever since her debut and it is nice to see that the song is not just another shallow, ordinary pop track, it is something much greater. Since Gaga teased fans with a few lyrics at last year's MTV VMAs, fans have been waiting for this day to get here, the wait is finally over. At the time of this writing, the song has already found its way to the top of the iTunes chart after only two hours of being officially released, #1 does not seem very far away for Gaga.

While much of the response to "Born This Way" has been positive, not all has been good. Many critics are saying that the song resembles Madonna's "Express Yourself" way too much to a point where the track becomes unoriginal and boring, I cannot disagree with this more. Critics need to stop comparing artists and their music, everything that anyone puts out is original in their minds so that is all that counts. Artists have been inspiring each other for years so there is no need to call anyone a copycat.

In my opinion, the song lives up to hype that surrounded it and it is sure to build the excitement even more for the May 23rd release of Gaga's new album that has been reported to contain 17 tracks, 20 if you purchase the deluxe edition. So what do you think of "Born This Way"? Is it a masterpiece, or did it miss its mark entirely? You be the judge, but just remember that we were all "Born This Way".
