I was on the hunt for some potent, affordable face masks. I added a bunch of face masks to my recent Korean beauty haul. I bought a bunch of face masks by Dr Jart, Missha, Nature Republic, It’s Skin and so on. I recently reviewed rubber masks from Dr Jart and by Nature Republic. I found the face mask in this post, on a discount in my local Marshalls store, I tried it and enjoyed using it on spa night/day routine.

My Experience with Shea Moisture Kukui Nut and Grapeseed Oils Youth Infusing Mud Mask:
This face mask by Shea Moisture comes in a plastic, round box with a screw on lid. The packing is in a bright purple color and has a detailed description on the packaging. This range includes cleanser and hair products and so on. This face mask is light grey in color since it contains bentonite clay and all though it appears really dense in the jar, it applies smooth on face and spreads evenly in a thin layer. I had a feeling that such a thick consistency clay mask might sit like a thick layer of plaster of Paris on my face and lead to product wastage since our skin has a limited capacity to absorb a product at a time, but such was not the case with this product.
This face mask contains biodegradable and naturally-sourced ingredients. It contains water, kaolin and bentonite clay base and all the essential ingredients are mixed in this base. To add moisture to the mask, it contains organic shea butter, glycerin and Glyceryl Caprylate (a skin conditioning agent). It is enriched with kukui nut oil, Grapefruit Seed Oil, olive leaf extract, avocado oil and apricot kernel oil. It also contains tomato fruit extract and other essential skin conditioning ingredients that are beneficial for skin.
This mud mask claims to be made with a powerful blend of antioxidants and vitamins to deeply purify and infuse skin with moisture and softening the premature signs of ageing. Kukui Nut Oil and Grapeseed Oil are a good source of Vitamins A, C, D, E and beta-carotene, plus antioxidants that minimize the signs of damage and protect from free radicals. Olive Leaf Extract and Avocado deeply moisturize skin with proteins. This mask is meant to nourish and add moisture to skin and it did do that. Most clay mask dry me out and I avoid using them for that reason, but this mask did not dry down to an un-washable layer of clay.
Upon application, it felt cool on my face and gave a slight tingling sensation which was not uncomfortable, and the sensation lingered till the mask dried down completely, which took 10-15 minutes. My face appeared clean and fresh and was not dry at all. I liked wearing this mask, it cleaned my face, hydrated it and I am sure in the long run, it will show more long-term benefits.
