This weekend he tried his hand at making a sheath from leather. Typically he makes sheaths from a plastic form called Kydex.

Starting from the left, an Ebony handle, synthetic handle with a Kydex sheath, a cedar handled knife, and lastly a cherry handle with another Kydex sheath.
The Kydex comes in plastic sheets and thus my kitchen griddle was sacrificed for the knife making good. I can already see that a cutting board and pan are the next things to go to the garage......
