How Post Malone Blew Up

There might not be a more unlikely superstar in the history of hip-hop than Post Malone. His introduction to the world came in 2015 with his hit single "White Iverson," and he hasn't looked back since. Post's debut album Stoney was a wildly successful commercial monster, producing six platinum singles and leading him to team up with Justin Bieber on the North American leg of his Purpose World Tour. After the release of his second studio album Beerbongs & Bentleys, Post has firmly planted himself among other top tier artists in hip-hop in regards to his popularity and demand. Though many of today's rappers claim to be "rockstars" Post truly has an aesthetic that fits more along the lines of Korn than it does A$AP Mob. But somehow, he has managed to make it work for himself.

His rise from relative obscurity as a teenager from Texas to chart-topping artist has happened so fast, it almost feels like it was overnight. But it hasn't been easy; his journey to stardom has come with its fair share of controversy. From being accused of being a culture vulture to being caught on camera using the n-word to his questionable comments about hip-hop and how there's "not a lot of real shit" in it these days, he has certainly faced moments of scrutiny in the court of public opinion. While some of these incidents could have been the nail the coffin for Post, none of them have managed to slow down the momentum that he has amassed over the past three years.

We are currently living in Posts star turn. These are the steps that he took to become not only one of the biggest artists in hip-hop, but one of the biggest artists in all of music. Here's how Post Malone blew up.
